Hi,
I am trying to get a Vodafone GPRS data card working in a Startech PCI to
PCMCIA converter, based on the Ricoh RL5c475 chip. The machine is a Dell
PowerEdge 1950 running Debian etch.
xxx:~# lspci | grep Ricoh
06:01.0 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c475 (rev 81)
xxx:~# pccardctl ident
Socket 0:
product info: "Vodafone", "GPRS Card", "", ""
manfid: 0x0314, 0x0004
function: 2 (serial)
Unfortunately however I cannot get the serial_cs driver to attach a serial
port to the device:
pccard: card ejected from slot 0
pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 0
pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia0.0
pcmcia: request for exclusive IRQ could not be fulfilled.
pcmcia: the driver needs updating to supported shared IRQ lines.
Nothing else. I tried the 2.6.23.9 kernel but that doesn't help (rather
than etch's 2.6.18)
I've spent a few hours googling and tried a few things such as booting the
kernel with this:
xxx:~# cat /proc/cmdline
root=/dev/md0 ro pci=assign-busses noapic nosmp
But whatever I do I don't have any luck. Does anybody have any ideas?
The card Just Works (TM) when I insert it into the PCMCIA slot on my
Lenovo ThinkPad X60s, and gets a serial port assigned to it.
Full lspci output:
