I thought I'd let you know that adding the following exclude to config.opts removed the freezing of my system when I run pcmcia-socket-startup: exclude irq 3 Moreover, as soon as I run pcmcia-socket-startup the wifi device is created and ready for communication - yet to be fully tested, but I'm sure it'll work.
