Unable to detect wireless PCMCIA card on Linux

Hi, I recently installed Debian Linux kernel 2.6.8-2-386 on my laptop. When 
I inserted the wireless PCMCIA card into my laptop, it gave me an message 
"cs:pcmcia socket0: unable to apply power". Then I tried to boot the kernel 
with option pci=assign-busses to see if it makes any effects. But this time 
when I inserted the card, the system hanged.

I really appreciate any help from you would solve the problem, as I 
searched on the web, this seems to be a common problem on some of the
