problem with TI adaptor

I am having trouble getting a PCMCIA-to-PCI adaptor to work. lspci says
it is a Texas Instruments PCI1410.
The card is detected and the proper driver is found for the PC card I am
trying to use. However, the PC card's driver fails, and the author
thinks the driver is failing to read the card's EEPROM.
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1188564&group_id=114161&atid=667394
The card works fine on my laptop.
Additionally, I get the "cannot remove power" warning that is described
on this page:
http://www.linux.com/howtos/PCMCIA-HOWTO-5.shtml
The page says that the last problem that caused this error was a memory
allocation error. That would seem consistent with the problem I am
seeing, which appears to be due to a failure to read EEPROM off of the
card.
I tried the recommended fix on the above page--as well as I can
understand it!--but it does not solve the problem. The exact boot
option I added was:
reserve=reserve=0xdf005000,0x5000 .
lspci and kernel log are attached. There are a few extra messages in
the kernel log, due to this patch being applied:
http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0311.1/1298.html
All the patch does is add some print-outs. It shows that the resource
regions for the card do get allocated eventually.
Any ideas?
