i82365 problems with 2.6

I've got this other laptop Thinkpad 755C with a basic 16-bit controller
in it. It works with Linux 2.4 even without pcmcia-cs. With Linux 2.6,
there seems to be a problem assigning an inserted card an IRQ. cardctl
status shows the card as inserted but [busy].
Here is dmesg. The RequestIRQ message is when I attempted to insert a
card. At the point when the system is shut down with a card inserted, I
see many messages from cardmgr, but they are not logged and scroll by
too quickly to record.
