Texas Instruments PCIxx21/x515 Cardbus Controller

Hi,

I recently got myself an Acer 5021 and I am trying to get it to perform at its
best.

It has a Turion processor, ! G of RAM. I am running 2.6.12 on a Gentoo
distribution (2.6.12-gentoo-r3) and pcmcia-cs 3.2.7-r3.

It has a "Texas Instruments PCIxx21/x515 Cardbus Controller" (PCI id is
104c:8031), and, as you have surely guessed by now, I can't get it to work
right.

The chip is identified and the "yenta" module loads with no apparent trouble.
I have tried with 5 PC cards, using "cardctl info" to check things. Of the 5
cards, 3 are recognised and 2 are not. In all cases, "cardctl status"
indicates a card is in, powered and ready.

The 3 "working" cards are:
		- US Robotics 56k Modem
		- CyQ've 10/100 LAN
		- Toshiba SmartMedia Adapter card

The 2 not working are
		- SMC EZ Connect 2835W
		- Buffalo LCP-CB-CLX 910/100 LAN)

The one I actually tried to use is the CyQ've card. It loaded alright and I
could configure the network interface. I was not able to actually connect it
because of a cable problem. When trying to use the card, I have seen the
message
eth1: Too much work at interrupt, status 0x80
But I am not sure when the message occurred and I have not been able to
reproduce it afterward.

I would guess the "working" cards are 16bit and the non-working 32 (How does
one verify that?)

The cards are working alright on my Toshiba Satellite (PIII) running
2.6.11-gentoo-r11

When removing the non working cards, I get the "*** DANGER *** unable to
remove socket power" message. What I read about it (Bad memory map, buggy
BIOS,..) does not seem to apply in this case. I do not have that message when
using the "working" cards

I attach the output of lspci -vv for those interrested. I also attach the
output of dmesg. I use noapictimer when booting to get the clock running at
normal speed. It runs twice as fast without that.. and that meant DVD were
playing twice as fast too.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any pointers? Do you thing that running
2.6.13xx with the new PCMCIA subsystem would help?

Cheers,
	François
