Ok, /proc/interrupts file with pd6729 already in kernel and with one card in socket,
but before starting cardmgr, looks like this :

           CPU0
  0: 191349 XT-PIC timer
  1: 647 XT-PIC i8042
  2: 0 XT-PIC cascade
  5: 1 XT-PIC soundblaster
  9: 0 XT-PIC pd6729
 12: 58 XT-PIC i8042
 14: 14023 XT-PIC ide0
NMI: 0
ERR: 0

after starting cardmgr, like this:

           CPU0
  0: 485800 XT-PIC timer
  1: 890 XT-PIC i8042
  2: 0 XT-PIC cascade
  5: 1 XT-PIC soundblaster
  9: 0 XT-PIC pd6729, 3c589_cs
 12: 100 XT-PIC i8042
 14: 14543 XT-PIC ide0
NMI: 0
ERR: 0

removing, inserting the first card and inserting the second does not change anything.
and finally after "cardctl insert 0" for second card, like this:

           CPU0
  0: 633033 XT-PIC timer
  1: 1070 XT-PIC i8042
  2: 0 XT-PIC cascade
  5: 1 XT-PIC soundblaster
  9: 0 XT-PIC pd6729, 3c589_cs, eth1
 12: 114 XT-PIC i8042
 14: 14921 XT-PIC ide0
NMI: 0
ERR: 0

so, no count increments, whatever that mean.
Also, I tried to insert i82365 under 2.4.26 with irq_mode=1, and this one i got:

Sep 17 00:26:43 (none) kernel: Linux PCMCIA Card Services 3.2.8
Sep 17 00:26:43 (none) kernel: kernel build: 2.4.26 #3 Sat Aug 7 04:36:18 YEKST 2004

Sep 17 00:26:43 (none) kernel: PCI card interrupts, PCI status changes

but, no card insertion/removal events :), only after "cardctl insert" it was like:

Sep 17 00:30:08 (none) kernel: cs: memory probe 0x0d0000-0x0dffff: clean.
Sep 17 00:30:08 (none) kernel: cs: IO port probe 0x0230-0x0387: clean.

Sep 17 00:30:08 (none) kernel: ttyS03 at port 0x02e8 (irq = 9) is a 16550A

card inherits controller irq here, ahh pci behaviour! :).
I do want isa behaviour then! :). Well, but if seriously im stuck. Seems like
no good olde i82365 under 2.6 now.
