Cardbus cards not being seen?

Hi All,

I need some help trying to figure out what is wrong with pcmcia on my laptop.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 (PS610C) running Gentoo linux with kernel
2.6.8 (just upgraded from 2.4.27). The laptop has a built in 802.11b card and
2 pcmcia slots. The built-in card is listed as a 16-bit PC Card.

The problem I am having is that the built-in card is recognized and working
but any cardbus cards are not recognized, in fact nothing shows up at all in
dmesg when one is inserted. If I insert an old 16-bit card, it is recognized.

I do not see any errors or warning in the dmesg output. I have also tried to
disable ACPI and various other settings (acpi=off pci=noacpi
pci=usepirqmask), but with no luck.

cardctl status gives this output when a cardbus card has been inserted
rover root # cardctl status
Socket 0:
  3.3V 16-bit PC Card
  function 0: [ready]
Socket 1:
  no card
Socket 2:
  3.3V CardBus card
  function 0: [ready]
  function 1: [ready]

I have tried with 2 different Cardbus cards, a 3Com 3CCFEM656 NIC/Modem and a
SMC2835W 802.11g wireless card (Prism GT/Prism Duette) - same result.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
