P.S. Sorry, I often miss the subject.  IBM G40 is a laptop, of course. 
Interrupts should work fine on integrated bridges.  It's cheap PCI cards 
that have interrupt problems.  Now I'm almost 100% sure you have the 
memory overlap problem at 1Gb.
