A message on NVMe Over Fabrics

Greetings linux-nvme mailing list,

Many have heard of efforts to extend NVMe beyond PCI-e to work across
Fabrics like Ethernet, Infiniband, and Fibre Channel. The NVMe over
Fabrics specification is being developed in the NVMe Workgroup and is
confidential until it is complete. Given the confidential nature of the
specification, it is not possible to actively develop the Linux host
and target drivers in the open source community just yet.

The NVMe Workgroup desires to find a way for the Linux host and target
driver work to proceed and has started a subteam in the Workgroup focused
on Linux driver enabling. The intent is to deliver the Linux drivers
being developed to the open source community when the specification is
complete and no longer confidential. The Workgroup wants to ensure the
open source community is aware of this effort to avoid duplication of
effort. If anyone wants to participate, you can become a Contributor
member of the NVMe Workgroup and join the subteam. For questions about
joining, please contact membership at nvmexpress.org.

Thanks!
Keith
