As discussed on IRC, I've checked the datasheet and indeed the
following modes are supported:
* 1S-1D-1D
* 1S-2D-2D
* 1S-4D-4D
* 4S-4D-4D

So yes, even if there is no use of these modes yet, certain mixed modes
are supported by this controller.
