[Ubi] Wrong major:minor

I have a couple more newbie questions:

1. A tutorial mentionned using ubinfo, ubiformat, ubiattach, ubimkvol,
and finally mount: Why do we need all those commands to use NAND
memory from uClinux?

2. Am I correct in understanding that the stack looks like this?
