iWave launches XMC/PrPMC module based on Freescale’s MPC8640/ MPC8641

processors MPC8640/MPC8641(Single core) and MPC8640D(Dual core)”

18thAugust 2010, Bangalore - India:iWave Systems Technologies, a leading embedded 
design house Headquartered in Bangalore has recently released its iW-RainboW-G9, 
a module based onFreescale’s Power Architecture® technology processor MPC864x 
with the XMC/PrPMC Industry standard form factor. 

With the available 4x Serial RapidIO/ x8 PCI Express switched interconnects 
along with Quad Gigabit Ethernet ports, this module provides high throughput 
network engine solution with low latency.

This highly integrated, high performance module enables solution for Embedded 
networking, Routers, switches and fast industrial control & automation, general 
computing, embedded storage and time-critical applications. 

This module, used as a standalone development platform, enables shortened development 
time with cost savings which helps the customer to reduce overall project risk. 


Commenting on this new module launch, Mr. Vivek Tyagi, Country Sales Manager, 
Freescale Semiconductor India Pvt. Ltd., mentioned, “iWave Systems Technologies, 
an active Freescale Alliance partner, has come out with lot of solutions & 
modules based on Freescale processors. Adding to this list, comes their latest 
Power Architecture technology processor MPC864x based XMC/PrPMC module that 
is suitable for developing high performance networking, telecom, pervasive 
computing applications.”

When asked about the benefits of using this module, Mr.Kamaraj (Corporate Manager, 
Product Engineering Group, iWave Systems Technologies) commented that “This 
module has Quad Gigabit Ethernet ports on front or rear panel of XMC module 
along with the processor. It can be easily interfaced to other I/O, FPGA and 
Carrier boards, either through the XMC or PrPMC interface. It also provides 
the flexibility for the better System engineering, since it provides all the 
4 GbE ports through the front panel interface as well as the expansion connector 
interface”.

MPC864x Processor Based XMC/PrPMC board features:

Ø  UART Debug serial Port support

Ø  5V and 3.3V Power input through PMC or XMC Interface

Ø  5V Power input for Stand-Alone option

Ø  Form factor - 149mm x 74mm standard single-width XMC size
