You shouldn't need non-CFI drivers - the AM29LV160DB is a CFI chip.

JEDECPROBE shouldn't be necessary for the CFI part.

You should select CONFIG_MTD_DEBUG and set CONFIG_MTD_DEBUG_VERBOSE to
