fwiw, i think it'd be cleaner to do:

        /* -EBUSY just means this driver is already registered */
        if (ret == -EBUSY)
                ret = 0;
        return ret;

or if you're one of those people who doesn't mind inline conditionals:

        /* -EBUSY just means this driver is already registered */
        return ret == -EBUSY ? 0 : ret;
