I had to wait for legal clearance ;)
mov r2, fp is there in your patches on
http://elinux.org/Ftrace_Function_Graph_ARM. I'm using this for 2.6.31.
It seemed fishy to me as well, since you don't really change the fp, so
it should remain intact when control returns to the epilogue of the
instrumented function.
