Hm. There's no accounting for the stupidity of the human animal.
We considered doing it as a mass _invitation_ (which needs the
subscriber to click the link to confirm) rather than a mass
subscription. In general, I think it's better to err on the side of
inclusion -- so I decided against that because I thought too many people
wouldn't notice it and would fall off the lists as a result. Perhaps
that was the wrong decision, but I suspect nothing is gained now by
going back and changing things, even if I _did_ have the required
information.
Even with the notification and the first major thread being "ARM Mailing
lists have moved", you're right that there are probably a few people who
are _so_ stupid that they can't manage to work it out. I've sent a mail
with words of one syllable or fewer to each list, which might hopefully
help -- but I'm sure there'll still be some.
When that happens, we'll unsubscribe them -- and send in the ninjas to
ensure they don't accidentally breed.
