Except it's not.  It's future directions for libusbx given some hypothetical conditions that aren't even on the horizon, which in my mind is the equivalent of mental masturbation.  I'm not knocking it - it's great fun like all masturbation, just trying to point out that it's not going to result in any particularly fruitful decisions or consensus, especially since by the time this actually requires a decision we'll be debating the direction anew & coming up with the decisions that make sense according to the realities of events, not using speculation based on hypotheticals from a long time ago (at least I would hope that's the case).
