Could you please give us an update on why the release seems to be held?
I think it's reasonable to expect that someone who provides an ETA will
also provide an update when it becomes obvious it's going to be missed.
And I'd very much leave Peter to be the only one giving project users
the "silent-admin" treatment, in such a case.
So can you please clarify what the current holdup is?
If the problem is with the infrastructure, I'd like to remind you that
we can be operational in terms of a (final) git + download repository in
a matter of minutes, and without relying on you spending time on it,
through the use of sf.net.
The way I see it, all we really need for the first libusbx release is:
- a mailing list
- a wiki/web page
- a download repository
- a git repo (preferably not temporary)
We have the first two already (whether the wiki/web page could use
improvements is fine - we're only starting the project) and we can very
easily get the other two. In fact, I have now registered libusbx on
sf.net (because I want a webgit that handles tag properly), and have no
problem granting you guys admin access, so we _already_ have these if
needed ([1] & [2]).
I'm afraid that, since nobody else but you is willing to spend time
sorting an infrastructure that we could quickly get for "free" (and
nobody else but you seems to have a problem with the possible drawbacks
of such a "free" solution), if getting personalized libusbx hosting is
going to take longer than anticipated, we may want to reconsider the
idea of staying away from one of the "free" FOSS projects hosts.
One way or another, I hope we can make sure that we have a release &
public announcement within a week.
Regards,
/Pete
