Not should - must. I don't really see us going public with the default 
project page, and that's also something I'd like to see sorted out 
before 1.0.10.

I've been using something like that for libwdi [1] (and this is 
documented by SF at [2]) but my problem is that the SF.net MediaWiki is 
quite slow to load, and it can be quite tricky to make a wiki 
prominently list pages that aren't part of the wiki. Theerfore I 
wouldn't mind having a portal page that is a bit faster and more 
customizable.

Something with a menu at the top that can quickly direct to:

> - download
> - source code
> - API doc
> - mailing lists
> - bug tracker

and other items (such as FAQ, etc.) would be nice. For an example of a 
portal page with such a menu, you can have a look at what the videolan 
project does for instance [3].
