[libical] Looking for a little help: parse an iCalendar file into a database

I am digging through the libical information and finding it confusing.

I want to parse an iCalendar file (.ics) into a database so that I  
can then query that database by dates and get back calendar components.

Let me start with this question: Is there a database schema  
documented anywhere to use with iCalendar ?
