 I agree with this in principle.  I think the prudent thing to do would be 
to apply the patch and then watch for side effects in existing downstream 
applications.  
   
 The patch has been applied.  Everyone downstream, please check your apps. 
 (That includes me, I'll be watching to see if it changes any behavior in 
Citadel.)
