    Revert "ncurses: Remove obsolete compile fixes"
    
    This reverts commit 4fb684a7558ea5c11580378be062f73da07f8479.
    
    The compile fixes are still required for host systems using GCC 5.x,
    such as Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
