The following task is now closed:

FS#1521 - Option persist in /etc/config/network is not working.
User who did this - Hans Dedecker (dedeckeh)

Reason for closing: Works for me
Additional comments about closing: Setting persist to 1 in uci results into the expected behavior; persist is set as a cmd line argument of pppd :

/usr/sbin/pppd nodetach ipparam wan ifname pppoe-wan +ipv6 nodefaultroute usepeerdns persist

Setting persist to 0 in uci results into nopersist being passed as cmd line argument to pppd and maxfail set to 1 :

/usr/sbin/pppd nodetach ipparam wan ifname pppoe-wan +ipv6 nodefaultroute usepeerdns nopersist maxfail 1
