I am pretty sure I have not backed up the entire overlay (basically only configs in /etc, modem firmware and stuff in home dirs). I will however double check my sysupgrade config and confirm.

I also want to underline that the kmods that fail to install are taken from the external packages distribution (http://downloads.lede-project.org/releases/17.01.4/targets/lantiq/xrx200/**packages**/kmod*) not the sysupgrade itself (TDW8980-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin).

So if you inspected kmods in the latter, they are not those that fail to install.
