I was not aware there was a migration script. Is that supposed to be included in sysupgrade? Usually I build the firmware from source after a git update. This way however there is no warning on any required configuration changes.

If you preserve the config during sysupgrade, the config is updated by the migration script. Have a look at the commit I mentioned in my first comment for the migration script. And yes, it is included in the image but will be removed during the first boot (check for a file /rom/etc/etc/uci-defaults/02_migrate_xdsl_iface).

Wait, your initial report was about a broken PPPoE connection. Is the mention of PPPoA a typo?
