Details - I'm using dnscrypt in an Archer C7 and it's working. I have configured it also in a WRT3200ACM but when the router starts it's started but then it disappears without any error message.

If I enter into ssh and execute /etc/init.d/dnscrypt-proxy restart or start it then works right.

In logread at boot appears:
Sun Jul 16 02:15:11 2017 user.info : dnscrypt-proxy + DNS Security Extensions are supported
Sun Jul 16 02:15:11 2017 user.info : dnscrypt-proxy + Namecoin domains can be resolved
Sun Jul 16 02:15:11 2017 user.info : dnscrypt-proxy + Provider supposedly doesn't keep logs
Sun Jul 16 02:15:11 2017 daemon.notice dnscrypt-proxy[1224]: dnscrypt-proxy Starting dnscrypt-proxy 1.9.4
Sun Jul 16 02:15:11 2017 daemon.info dnscrypt-proxy[1224]: dnscrypt-proxy Generating a new session key pair
Sun Jul 16 02:15:11 2017 kern.info kernel: [ 14.200566] mwifiex_sdio mmc0:0001:1: CMD_RESP: cmd 0x242 error, result=0x2
Sun Jul 16 02:15:11 2017 kern.info kernel: [ 14.207718] mwifiex_sdio mmc0:0001:1: mwifiex_process_cmdresp: cmd 0x242 failed during initialization
Sun Jul 16 02:15:11 2017 daemon.info dnscrypt-proxy[1224]: dnscrypt-proxy Done

And no more messages about dnscrypt are shown, but also dnscrypt doesn't shown in ssh with ps, until the mentioned manual start is done.

Perhaps there is a problem with dnscrypt if it starts before there is an active internet connection?
