Please provide a serial console bootlog from an image flashed via TFTP and an image flashed via sysupgrade!

If possible, please boot an initramfs image right after you flashed the image via TFTP/sysupgrade, dump the firmware/kernel or whatever it is called partition and check what is different between TFTP and sysupgrade flash.
