Further to my previous report, if I run:

/etc/init.d/dsl_control stop
and after a few seconds
/etc/init.d/dsl_control start

occasionally pppoe-wan will connect and acquire an IP address. Occasionally it connects also at boot (after several reboots), but never when powerd on after a power off, however this makes this firmware version quite unreliable and thus unusable.

I tried this firmware version on 2 different Home Hub 5A (I have one for stable DSL link and one to test new firmware), therefore I can exclude a hardware issue.
