I agree that there is a need to address the major problems - to how far the image he wanted to build at all ...
As for the logger is simply overwrite it with the version of the not-busybox and there was no problem with that - so far ...
In conclusion - if there are problems somewhere now is definitely the same Opkg scripts and building blocks.
