It seems the issue is that LEDE incorrectly tries to use gcp as a cp replacement, this issue has been reported before for OpenWrt: https://lists.openwrt.org/pipermail/openwrt-users/2012-March/002066.html

Removing gcp from your build host and starting a fresh build (run 'make dirclean' to clean up) should fix your issue.

I think we should also fix this in LEDE.
