ath10k,ath9k with Kernel 4.1, Kernel 4.4: No STP flow over the 4addr client connection

Hardware: nanostation, picostation, unifiac
Setup: main link (network), backup link (wifi), midpoint

expected behaviour: fallback to backup link works

current behaviour: 
- fallback is not working w. 4.1 , 4.4
- fallback is working w. ath9k and 3.18
- stp flow is working w. 4.x system runnign the ap side of the link  to a 3.x running the client side of the link
