I just tried adding "-Werror" to CFLAGS in .config but the build of the 
old version still passed (ccache enabled, cd hostapd; make clean; make).
I'm using gcc 4:4.8.2-1ubuntu6 on x86_64 (ubuntu trusty).

Do you happen to have a hint for me on how to catch these errors?
