Yes, I don't know why the Debian maintainers are not using a more
recent version?

Does hostapd 2.6 work with Realtek without the patch?

The issue was resolved when I told create_ap --ht_capab "", so the reason it
didn't work was create_ap - but shouldn't hostapd complain about this
misconfiguration?
