Does wpa_supplicant and hostapd work simltaneously with one wifi device?

Hi all

This is for sure a beginners question, but I hope somebody can help me.
I'd like to use wpa_supplicant and hostapd simultaneously with one wifi device (one network interface).
I'd like to prepare wifi STA and wifi AP function in my PC at the same time.
Would this be possible? Or do I need another device?
