P2P mode problems

Hi,

I've been trying to have a play with the new P2P mode in the attempt to
get up a service on a device that a Android application can interact with.

I've followed the build instructions from
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/developers/p2p/howto.

I'm using TP-Link TL-WN821N USB adapter (it uses the ath9k_hw driver)

I've been playing with the wpa_cli in interactive mode to start with and
things like p2p_find seam to be working fine, p2p_group_add is giving
the following error:

  > p2p_find

<4>Could not connect to kernel driver

A little searching suggested that the device driver may not be enabled
for AP mode (all be it old posts). Given that the howto suggests using
ath9k devices and iw list says it supports AP mode. Does anybody have
any other ideas what could be wrong?

I'm currently prototyping this on my Raspberry Pi running the 3.2.27+
kernel from the raspbian release. I have also tried it on my Fedora 17
Laptop and I don't get a different issue.

Anybody got any suggestions as to what might be wrong and how to fix it?

Thanks,
