hello! thanks for responding :) im currently in the process of trying to get
it to do the same thing again in order to pull up a log, but would the fact
that the mac address for the invalid frame is coming from a single client
make any difference, as i have a few devices on the network including a
android cellhphone and a mac that are producing the category 3 messages, the
one that is producing them is windows 7 laptop. also for hostapd, i have a
dwa-552 wifi card running on a proliant dl380 server. i will also grab the
config file too incase there are any obvious errors.

interface=wlan0
bridge=br0
driver=nl80211
logger_syslog=-1
logger_syslog_level=2
logger_stdout=-1
logger_stdout_level=2
#debug=0
dump_file=/tmp/hostapd.dump
#ctrl_interface=/var/run/hostapd
#ctrl_interface_group=0
ssid=kingston
country_code=US
hw_mode=g
#macaddr_acl=1
#accept_mac_file=/etc/hostapd/accept
auth_algs=3
eapol_key_index_workaround=0
eap_server=0
wpa=3
wpa_psk_file=/etc/hostapd/wpa_psk
wpa_key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
wpa_pairwise=CCMP
#stakey=0
channel=6
wmm_enabled=1
ieee80211n=1
ht_capab=[HT40+][SHORT-GI-40][DSSS_CCK-40]

also here is the full copy of the category 3 message

wlan0: STA 00:22:fb:41:c3:b4 IEEE 802.11: handle_action - unknown action
category 3 or invalid frame
 IEEE 802.11: Return unknown Action frame back to sender

thanks again for your help!
