Back port "scan_freq" implementation to wpa supplicant 0.6.x

Hello all,

I wish to back port the patch for "scan_freq" facility to wpa
supplicant version 0.6.8. The scan_freq allows the application to
supply a list of channels to wpa supplicant to be used in mlme.c to
scan  based on the list.
The reason i want to do this is that the the driver we use is  does
not use mac80211(uses WEXT) and adapting the driver to work with
mac80211.
Can anyone suggest if there are any limitations on back porting
approach and if it is feasible in the first place?
