handshake times out at step 1 (openssl patch related?)

Hi,

I currently have hostapd running on a voyage distro and am still  
experiencing some problems with when using WPA-PSK with TKIP or CCMP.  
The supplicant is an OS X device, but I see the same behaviour with  
win XP. No problems with my iPhone and Window CE devices, for some  
unclear reason.

The error does not always occur, and is mostly fixed after I re-enter  
the password at the supplicant or just force a reconnect. It also  
occurs when roaming from one AP to another, both are configured with  
the same PSK (they are running the exact same image).

Basically the 4-way handshake seems to just timeout at the first step.  
I'm thinking two options at the moment:

* the supplicant ignores the first message because it thinks it is  
already authenticated, which doesn't sound correct to me and I've  
roamed between campus APs before, so that should work. I'm setting up  
a 3rd sniffing machine so I can snoop around on the network.
* the supplicant ignores the message because something is off in the  
protocol.

I do know that I recently built the last stable hostap version for our  
image, however I linked against the openssl 0.9.8 that came with the  
distro. Could this be the cause of my problems?
