patch: **** malformed patch at line xx: /**

Hello every one
 I am facing a problem with patching. When ever someone sends me a code for patch in a email.
 I copy the code of the patch and save it as patch file using gedit.
Almost all the patches give error during patching  "patch: **** malformed patch at line xx: /**" 
where xx is the line number having /** (documentation comments)

any idea and help ?
