wpa_supplicant doesn't reassociate automatically

Hi all,
I'm using hostapd on a debian lenny and wpa_supplicant (0.5.5) on a
debian etch.
All seems to work but if I stop hostapd daemon then the client doesn't
reconnect automatically :( I need to manually run "wpa_cli reassociate"

Any idea?
