Hi,

actually I'm running an ap with the following settings:
OS: Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10
miniPCI: Atheros AR5212/AR5213
hostap: v0.5.7
<hostapd.conf>
    interface=ath0
    driver=madwifi
    ssid=my_private_ap
    auth_algs=3
    wme_enabled=1
    eapol_version=1
    eapol_key_index_workaround=0
    own_ip_addr=127.0.0.1
    wpa=3
    wpa_psk=XXX
    wpa_key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
    wpa_pairwise=TKIP
</hostapd.conf>

On another pc (laptop) I have the following settings:
OS: Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10
WLAN: Broadcom bcm4306

I've made the following configurations:
a) Native bcm43xx-driver with wpa_supplicant
b) NDISwrapper with wpa included in /etc/network/interfaces

Everytime I started the laptop I cann't associate to the ap. I've to
manually type into a terminal:
"sudo ifdown eth1"
"sudo ifup eth1"

Then I get connected and obtain an ip-adress.

I also tried to uninstall network-manager-gnome and installed "wcid".
No other results.

Have anybody a tip, trick, hint?

Regards
