frame cryptography

Hi all,

Could someone suggest me, what part of wpa_supplicant (and hostapd) deal with frame cryptography and authentication?

Is wpa_supplicant that encrypt (or decrypt) every frame before sending it, or this job is performed by the driver (i.e. what software implements the cipher suites)?
