Which is better way for scanning AP channel

Hi,
Correct me if I'm wrong?
The best way to scan the air in order to detect interfering cells would be:
1 ? Move to Managed mode
2 ? Disable ESSID
3 ? Accept all beacons
4 ? set manual roaming and scanning
5 ? scan
e.g.:
iwconfig wlan0 mode managed essid any
prism2_param wlan0 host_roaming 2
prism2_param wlan0 other_ap_policy 3
iwlist wlan0 scan
As Mr Huguet said, ap_scan sets inter-scan timer (time between
consecutive passive scans).
I know it sounds off topic but, regarding frequency selection?
IEEE 802.11a devices in Europe following 802.11h amendments, implement
Dynamic Frequency Selection with which associated stations are able to
report to their APs the presence of interfering sources. The AP has
the ability to announce to its associated STAs a channel change based
on these reports.
