How stupid of me. Thanks for pointing this out to me.

Yes, wpa_supplicant 0.4.9 works fine now. The wpa_supplicant 0.2.4
that comes with SuSE 9.2 (the strategic platform set for this
"project") doesn't work with the same config file. Is that expected?
