hostapd problems with bridging

Hi,

i'm using debian sid with hostapd 0.4.5 and madwifi-old on my atheros
pci wlan card. wenn i start hostapd, my pda can authenticate and
connect to my hostap with wpa-psk tkip. but when i bridge the wired und
wireless networks, the 4-way-handshake fails with eapol key timeout.
why is this? do you have any solution for me or a hint how i can solve
this problem? i don't want to buy a standalone ap ;) is hostap unable
to work with wlan devices wich are in promiscous mode?
