running a command apon connect?

how would I run a command apon connection to an ap?

I noticed that when I had 2 ap's that I could connect
to sometimes i would loose internet connectivity I
narrowed it down to that when my computer moved
between the ap's the ip address needed refreshed do I
need to create a background script that monitors with
wpa_cli every second and have it run dhclient again?
