Hi,
I use hostap for 2 years. Everything works fine with 2.4 linux kernel.
Now I'm trying to use hostap with kernel 2.6 but I have an "association to ap" problem both in Gentoo with 2.6.14.2 with 0.4.7 hostap drivers, and in Slackware with 2.6.16.1 with kernel integrated hostap drivers.
I attach my senao card (product info: "INTERSIL", "HFA384x/IEEE", manfid: 0x0156, 0x0002), and I can see correctly the two device (wlan0 and wifi0). I launch kismet and I can see my d-link AP. But, when I type: iwconfig wlan0 mode managed essid 'myessid', I read this in syslog:
wifi0: LinkStatus=6 (Association failed)
wifi0: LinkStatus: BSSID=44:44:44:44:44:44
(Syslog repeat always these two messages)
The version of wirelesstools is 28.
The output of iwconfig is:
wifi0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:"myessid"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: None
Bit Rate:2 Mb/s Sensitivity=1/3
Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
wlan0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:"myessid"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: None
Bit Rate:2 Mb/s Sensitivity=1/3
Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality=0/70 Signal level=-73 dBm Noise level=-73 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
Link quality is good (monitor mode works fine with kismet).
I also tryed to specify the channel with iwconfig wlan0 channel 6, but with no results.
At this moment I'm using orinoco drivers, but I want to back to hostap driver, because I want to use wpa_supplicant.
Anyone can help me? Thanks! (Sorry for the bad english :( )
