Wlan0 security after hostapd crash

Hello

After the hostapd daemon has been started successfully and the security 
settings with wlan0 and it's clients is set up, what will happen to the 
security of the AP when someone kills hostapd or it crash for some 
reason. I.e. what kind of state the wlan0 interface is left after 
hostapd kill or crash? Is it possible to connect to the AP by some means 
after that?
