Thanks for the speedy response.  Unfortunately...

The router is broadcasting its SSID.  
The card is configured to the same SSID (iwconfig wlan0 essid IDNET). 
"scan_ssid=1" has been removed from the config file.  

wpa_supplicant still fails on the first phase of the 4-way handshake.
